'India targeted airbases with BrahMos before Pakistan could act': Shehbaz Sharif's big admission | Report

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made a big admission, saying that the Pakistan Army was "caught unawares" during India's attack on the intervening night of May 9-10, India Today reports. India used BrahMos to strike key military bases, including the airport in Rawalpindi.

'India attacked before Pakistan could act': Shehbaz Sharif

Sharif, who was speaking at an event in Azerbaijan, said that Pakistan planned to attack India on May 10 after morning prayers. Before Pakistan could act, India's long-range supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles hit multiple targets in Pakistan, across several provinces, Sharif added.

Sharif said he was informed of the early morning attack by Munir, who has now been promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

"Our armed forces were prepared to act at 4.30 in the morning after Fajr prayers to teach a lesson. But before that hour even arrived, India once again launched a missile attack using BrahMos, targeting various provinces of Pakistan, including the airport in Rawalpindi", India Today quotes Pak PM as saying.

The major action took place between the two sides on the intervening night of May 9th-10th and continued till the afternoon of May 10th, wherein air bases along the length and breadth of Pakistan were targeted by India.

After India had attacked terror bases in Pakistan on the night of May 6th-7th, including the terror hubs in Bahawalpur and Muridke in Pakistani Punjab, the Pakistani side retaliated by firing missiles at military targets in India, which failed to leave a mark due to a strong multi-tier air defence system.

Indian Air Force numbed PAF

The extensive damage caused to the three command and control centres "numbed" the Pakistani Air Force, as they were not able to communicate or see the complete battlefield picture, as there was no link between the Advanced Early Warning and Control System aircraft of PAF and their ground stations.

The fear of India's S-400 from the May 6-7 night had forced them to go deep within a narrow Pakistan airspace, and hiding behind civilian aircraft was being adopted as deliberate tactics by them.
